At the request of BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed, Aam Janata Dal member secretary Md. Tarique Rahman broke his hunger strike after 134 hours. Tarique Rahman was taken to the capital's Gonoshasthaya Hospital in an ambulance in the presence of Salahuddin Ahmed on Sunday night around 8:30 pm.He had been on a hunger strike to death in front of the main gate of the EC since last Tuesday as 'Aam Janata Dal' was not on the party registration list of the Election Commission (EC).Salahuddin Ahmed said that Aam Janata Dal member secretary Tarique Rahman is a shining star of the anti-fascist movement. Many of those who were with him have been martyred or disabled. Tarique has also been a victim of many tortures.He said that they have applied for party registration so that they can play a role in the democratic movement in the future. But after a long trial and consideration, their party was not registered.He also said that today I spoke to the EC to reconsider his application. I hope his party gets justice. I requested Tariq to break the hunger strike, and he has kept my request. He has been taken to the hospital. I hope he recovers quickly and the Election Commission reconsiders his party's appeal.
