Don't listen to rumors and pray for Khaleda Zia's recovery: Ishraq Hossain

BNP-nominated Dhaka-6 constituency candidate Ishraq Hossain said that Begum Khaleda Zia is currently in better condition than before and is receiving the highest medical care. Instead of listening to the rumors spread on social media about her illness, he urged everyone to pray for her recovery.

Ishraq Hossain said these things at a discussion meeting organized by Wari Thana BNP at his residence in Gopibagh in the capital on Wednesday (December 3).

He said, "The party will inform the people about the current condition of the leader in a responsible and clear manner. It has already been informed that she is now in a better condition than the condition in which she was admitted to the hospital, Alhamdulillah."

He said, "Dessenter Begum Khaleda Zia has been admitted to the hospital for a few days in a serious condition. People from all over the country and the world are praying for her. Specialist doctors are coming from different countries of the world.’

Demanding a trial for the genocide committed during the Awami League regime, he said, ‘We want a fair trial and exemplary punishment for all those who were involved in it. We also have to go to those who supported the Awami League but were not involved in genocide or torture and ask for votes.’

He also said, ‘The people of the country have not forgotten the genocide that took place last year. The 1971 genocide was not tried, but this year’s genocide must be tried—there is no alternative.’

Regarding the country’s reforms and democracy, Ishraq Hossain said, ‘BNP has made the biggest reform by abolishing the one-party regime and establishing a multi-party democracy. We want to establish a democratic state according to the hopes and aspirations of the people. The most important thing for this is a neutral and fair election system.’

He promised, ‘Our goal is that no party can control the voting system after every five years. We will accept whoever the people vote for and bring to power. We want a 100% fair vote.’

Regarding party discipline, he said, ‘Those who have committed extortion and wrongdoing by tarnishing the name of BNP have already been expelled from the party. Those who will do such things in the future, the party will not keep them in any position. We all want to learn from the honesty of our national leader Begum Khaleda Zia.’

The meeting, chaired by Wari Thana BNP convener Alhaj Liaquat Ali, also addressed the joint convener Arif, Mozzamel Haque, Shirin, Mohammad Ibrahim, Mobarak Hossain, Qayyum and other Thana BNP leaders and activists.
