Desk News || Three people suspected of stealing cows were lynched to death in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha. The incident took place late on Saturday (November 1) night in Nasirabad village of Katabari union of the upazila.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj police station Bulbul Islam confirmed the matter. He said that around 2:30 am, three people were stealing three cows from a man's cowshed in Nasirabad village. When the locals chased them, they jumped into a pond on the side of the road to save their lives. Later, the locals caught them and beat them severely. Two of them died on the spot.On receiving the information, the police reached the spot in the morning and rescued another person who was seriously injured and sent him to Gobindaganj Upazila Health Complex. He died there while undergoing treatment.Locals claim that all the deceased were members of an organized gang of cow thieves from Shibganj upazila of neighboring Bogra district.The OC also said that the bodies are currently kept at Gobindaganj Police Station. Their names and identities are not yet known. Once the identities are confirmed, they will be sent to the morgue of Gaibandha Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The incident will be properly investigated and legal action will be taken.
