Desk News || BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has commented that a group is trying to create anarchy over the trial of Sheikh Hasina for genocide.He said this at a discussion on the death anniversary of Maulana Bhashani at the National Press Club on Monday (November 16).Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, "Tomorrow, the verdict of genocide will be passed against fascist Hasina. There is uncertainty and fear across the country regarding this. A group is plotting to create anarchy in Bangladesh again regarding this. We have to stand up. Let us not waste the opportunity that we got through the mass uprising of students and the public. Let us make the path to democracy easier."The BNP Secretary General said, "Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani dreamed of the independence of this country. He truly wanted to see this country as a welfare state, but he could not see it. In the independence proclaimer President Ziaur Rahman, he saw the reflection of that leader—the leader who might be able to change the fate of this country.’He complained, ‘Bangladesh politics is going into a confused state. Such things are entering politics—which the people of Bangladesh cannot even think about. Unfortunately, the current time has reached a very complex crisis. We have fought against fascism for 16 years with many hopes, aspirations, and trust. Numerous of our leaders and activists have been arrested, false cases have been filed, killed, and martyred. Finally, Sheikh Hasina was forced to leave this country through the mass uprising of the students and the public.’He said, ‘Amidst much confusion, disappointment, and uncertainty, a possibility of elections has now emerged. These elections will be held next February. Some groups, some quarters here want to create uncertainty in the country in a planned manner and they want to delay the elections by raising various demands. The biggest need of the people of this country now is an elected government—one that the people will have behind it.’Calling on all political parties, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘Create an opportunity for elections by supporting the election process without delay.’
