Desk News || A hearing is going to be held today against BGB officer Lieutenant Colonel Redwanul Islam and four others in a case of crimes against humanity in the capital's Rampura in July-August. In this context, maximum security measures have been taken at the International Crimes Tribunal.On Monday (November 24) morning, members of the law enforcement agencies took position at the main gate of the tribunal including the entrance of the High Court. RAB-BGB have been deployed along with additional police. Army members are also patrolling around the Supreme Court area.RAB-3 Warrant Officer Nazim Uddin said, two army officers will be produced before the International Crimes Tribunal today in a case of crimes against humanity. Security has been strengthened for this. Two of our teams have also been on duty since the morning. We are active as always. We will remain here until further instructions come.On this day, Tribunal-1 Chairman Justice Md. The hearing will be held by a three-member judicial panel led by Golam Mortuza Majumder. State defense may be appointed for the two absconding accused in this case.The hearing was scheduled for November 5. However, today's date has been fixed due to the prosecution's application. The order was given by a two-member judicial panel led by Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud of Tribunal-1 on October 26. The other member is retired District and Sessions Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.Two of the four accused in this case are currently in jail. Apart from Redwanul, the other is former BGB officer Major Md. Rafat Bin Alam. Both were produced before the tribunal on October 22. After the hearing, Tribunal-1 showed them arrested and sent them to jail. At the same time, the absconding accused were ordered to appear and publish a notice in the newspaper. Which has already been published.The two absconding accused are former Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP's Khilgaon region Md. Rashedul Islam and former Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rampura Police Station Md. Mashiur Rahman.It is worth noting that during the student-public movement in July-August, there were widespread killings across the country. Of these, 28 people were killed in Rampura. Many more were injured. BGB officer Redwanul was seen firing directly at the protesters in Rampura. Besides, others also led the killings. In view of this, separate formal charges were filed against the four people in the tribunal. Earlier, the investigation agency submitted an investigation report against them.
