Desk News || National Citizens Party (NCP) convener Nahid Islam said that the Election Commission should unite all political parties and start the election process. The election process should not be hindered by any particular party.He said this at the NCP's policy dialogue program at a hotel in the capital on Friday (December 5) evening.Nahid Islam said, "We have always been told that we are against elections. But we want elections. We have to go that way. However, we have to unite all political parties and then go for elections. I don't think the time frame will change for a particular political party."There is a matter of the health of a key figure in an important political party. We want all political parties to be politically prepared before the schedule is announced, he also commented.Stating that the NCP has not entered into any secret or public agreement with anyone, the party convener said, "There is an attempt to spread misinformation against us. We will announce the candidate list soon. Discussions are underway about a third alliance. There are allegations against the old-line parties and the people do not trust them. So we want to do new politics.’He said, ‘We will not do politics by compromising our vision and mission. Democratic and economic reforms are our important agenda. The movement gained popularity because of the name anti-discrimination. This name was given consciously.’He further said that after the mass uprising of 1969, elections were held in 1970, the aspirations of the people were fulfilled, but those in charge of the state at that time did not accept it, and there was war in the country. The elected government did not keep the commitment made in the 1990 uprising. If the commitment for the 2024 uprising is not kept, the country may go towards disaster.
