Mamun Rafi , Staff Reporter || Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Rezaul Karim, said that after the uprising of ’24, when they raised their voices to unite in favor of Islam, people across the country expressed solidarity and agreement with them. At that point, he alleged, a certain group, particularly one political party, became driven by the lust for power instead of remaining committed to Islam.He further said that thousands of crores of taka have been siphoned out of the country and that Bangladesh has repeatedly ranked first in corruption. He accused them of using the label of Islam to implement American policies and ideals in the country, as well as promoting Indian and British culture. “They are deceiving people by presenting imitation as gold,” he said. “We want to tell the people of this country that we do not want imitation gold; we want real gold. We want to see true Islam practiced in Bangladesh.”Mufti Rezaul Karim made these remarks on Sunday evening while addressing an election rally in support of Islami Andolon Bangladesh’s candidate for the Noakhali-1 constituency, Zahidul Islam. The rally was held at the Sonaimuri High School field in Sonaimuri upazila of Noakhali, ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, where he was present as the chief guest.Referring to Char Monai, he said many had assumed that Islami Andolon Bangladesh had become isolated. “We would say we are not alone,” he added. “Allah is with us, the ulema of Bangladesh are with us, and all those who love Islam and the country are with us.”The rally was presided over by Zahidul Islam, the Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for the Noakhali-1 (Chatkhil–partial Sonaimuri) constituency. Candidates from other constituencies of the party and leaders from various levels also addressed the gathering.
