Rashedul Islam || Voting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students' Union (JACSU) and Hall Parliament elections has begun.The voting began at 9 am on Thursday (September 11) in 224 booths in 21 hall centers of the university. It will continue till 5 pm.Earlier, ballot boxes were delivered to each center on Wednesday night and ballots were delivered to each center in the morning.Meanwhile, strict security measures have been taken across the campus in view of the voting. 1500 police, 7 platoons of BGB and 5 platoons of Ansar have been deployed at various places on the campus to maintain peace and order on the occasion of the election. In addition, Ansar and law enforcement officers are stationed inside and outside the campus to deal with any unexpected incidents on the campus.Meanwhile, all the gates of the university, except the gate adjacent to Mir Mashraraf Hossain Hall and the marginal gate, will be closed from 6 pm on September 10 to 12 noon on September 12. All types of floating shops of the university, shops at Tarzan Point, shops adjacent to the old transport square, shops at Murad Square adjacent to the new arts building, cloth markets and all shops at the gates north of the peripheral gate and all shops adjacent to the main gate will be closed from 6 am to 6 pm on September 11.Canteens and shops inside all residential halls have been asked to remain open and sufficient food stocks should be kept. All types of motorcycles, except for emergency departments (security, water, electricity, gas, internet), have been banned from 6 pm yesterday, Wednesday, to 12 noon on September 12. During this time, only vehicles with round stickers of the university and stickers of the Election Commission will be allowed to enter the campus. All staff buses will enter the university through the peripheral gate.178 candidates are contesting for 25 posts in this year's JACSU elections. Among them, 9 people are contesting for the post of Vice President (VP), 9 people for the post of General Secretary (GS), 6 people for the post of Joint General Secretary (female) and 10 people for the post of Joint General Secretary (male).
