A unique humanitarian initiative was successfully completed in Chandina, Cumilla, aimed at spreading the joy of the holy Eid-ul-Adha among all segments of society. On Monday, a day-long financial grant totaling 10 lakh BDT, received from the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund, was distributed among the destitute, helpless, and underprivileged people across various areas of the upazila and the municipality. The primary objective of this event, held just before the festival, was to bring a smile and a sense of relief to low-income families struggling in the face of rising commodity prices.Atikul Alam Shawn, Member of Parliament for the Cumilla-7 (Chandina) constituency, was present as the chief guest at this humanitarian grant distribution program. Under his leadership, the cash assistance was handed over to enlisted poor, widowed, disabled, and unemployed working-class individuals across 13 unions of the upazila and 9 wards of the Chandina municipality. In addition, a separate financial aid package was provided to 36 helpless individuals specifically in Ward No. 5 of Chandina Municipality. Receiving this unexpected assistance right before Eid, the beneficiaries expressed immense joy and highly praised the government's welfare-oriented initiative.In his speech at the event, Member of Parliament Atikul Alam Shawn stated that the current government and the Honorable Prime Minister are working tirelessly to bring smiles to the faces of every marginalized and backward citizen in the country. He emphasized that this special initiative was taken to ensure that the joy of the festival is not limited to a single class but reaches every household. He urged the wealthy and affluent members of society to step forward, saying that it is not the government's duty alone; every solvent person should stand by the distressed with a spirit of mutual cooperation to build a humane and harmonious society.The entire distribution process was conducted in a very joyful and festive atmosphere. Among others present at this humanitarian event were Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Ashraful Haq, Cumilla North District BNP Convener Committee Member and Chandina Upazila BNP General Secretary Shah Mohammad Alamgir Khan, former General Secretary of Upazila BNP Kazi Arshad, along with other local leaders.
