A truck driver was killed and two others were injured after a leather-laden truck lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch while attempting to climb a bridge in Debidwar upazila of Cumilla.The accident occurred around 8:45 pm on Saturday (June 20) on the eastern side of the bridge near Khalilpur Bazar. The truck, carrying a load of leather and heading towards Dhaka, overturned after losing control. The driver died on the spot.The deceased was identified as Sohel, a resident of Gazipur. One of the injured, helper Monir, is from Sirajganj, while the identity of the other injured person could not be confirmed immediately. Both sustained minor injuries.Following the incident, a team from Debidwar Police Station and a unit from Muradnagar Fire Service rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations. However, the driver's body remained trapped underneath the truck, making it impossible to recover without a wrecker.As of 1:00 am on Sunday, police said the body was still stuck beneath the vehicle and recovery efforts were awaiting the arrival of a wrecker. The truck had not yet been removed, while the two injured victims suffered only minor injuries.Md. Amzad Hossain, an official of Muradnagar Fire Service, said, “Our rescue team is working at the scene. The truck and the body trapped underneath it will be recovered once the wrecker arrives.”Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Debidwar Police Station, Md. Moniruzzaman, said that the leather-laden truck lost control while climbing the bridge on the eastern side of Khalilpur Bazar and fell into a ditch. Although the injured persons were rescued, the driver's body remained trapped under the truck due to delays in the arrival of a wrecker.
