In a mobile court operation conducted in various areas of Chandina upazila, three individuals were sentenced to non-rigorous imprisonment of different terms along with monetary fines for drug consumption on Monday (August 24). The drive was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Chandina Upazila, KM Injarul Haque, who detained the three suspects and penalized them through separate summary judgments.Among the convicted, Anisuzzaman Tuhin, son of Kamal Hossain from Lebas village in Nawabpur under Chandina upazila, received a seven-day non-rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of BDT 10,000. The second convict, Dilip Das, son of Rajendra Das from Gomrahdaha village in Pirganj Upazila of Thakurgaon district, was handed a 15-day non-rigorous imprisonment and fined BDT 50. Similarly, Arup Kumar Barman, son of Sushil Barman from Kanikshangaon village under Ruhia Police Station in the same district, was sentenced to 15 days of non-rigorous imprisonment and a fine of BDT 50.Following the completion of legal procedures, the convicts were handed over to Chandina Police Station and subsequently sent to Cumilla Central Jail. Assistant Commissioner (Land) KM Injarul Haque confirmed that the operation was carried out across multiple locations in the upazila to crack down on drug use, and the penalised individuals were promptly placed into police custody for execution of their sentences.
