Md. Osman Gani , Upazila Correspondent, Chandina || Police have arrested an auto-rickshaw driver named Al Amin (40) on charges of raping an 11-year-old girl in Chandina upazila of Cumilla. The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Lebas area of the upazila's Dollai Nawabpur union.The arrested Al Amin is the son of the late Bazlur Rahman of Ghazi Bari in the Rajamehar area of neighboring Debidwar upazila. He was currently living as a tenant in a house belonging to Hossain in Lebas village under Chandina upazila and driving an auto-rickshaw.According to the complaint details, at the time of the incident, the girl was sitting in Al Amin's auto-rickshaw in front of the house. Taking advantage of the absence of anyone around, the accused auto-rickshaw driver allegedly took her to a nearby room and raped her. Later, upon hearing the child's cries, local residents noticed the situation.When the incident came to light, locals detained the accused Al Amin and informed the police. Upon receiving the news, Chandina police station personnel rushed to the spot and arrested him. Meanwhile, the victimized girl was taken to the Chandina Upazila Health Complex for medical treatment.Chandina Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Nuruzzaman stated that the victim's brother filed a written complaint regarding the incident. Based on that complaint, the accused Al Amin has been arrested and sent to court.
