Locally, the storm is referred to as Nando.As of Sunday (September 21), 11:00 AM local time, the typhoon’s center recorded sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 230 km/h or more.Philippine Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla confirmed that local authorities have been instructed to evacuate families living in vulnerable zones to safer areas as quickly as possible.Meanwhile, Taiwan reported that preparations are underway to evacuate at least 300 residents from the eastern Hualien region, with the number potentially increasing or decreasing depending on the typhoon’s path.Taiwan’s meteorological agency warned that a land typhoon alert could be issued tonight, with the storm expected to make landfall along coastal areas by 6:00 AM on Monday (September 22).Philippine weather expert John Grendar Almario said during a press briefing that the northern region of Luzon could face heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides due to the typhoon’s impact.
