Super Typhoon Ragasa is rapidly approaching with immense strength. Authorities have already begun evacuating residents from coastal and high-risk areas as the storm moves closer to the Philippines and Taiwan.According to a report by Yahoo News on Monday (September 22), the powerful typhoon, formed over the Pacific Ocean, is advancing at great speed. The Philippine weather bureau has warned that it could strike the sparsely populated Batanes and Babuyan Islands by Tuesday evening (September 23). Locally, the storm is referred to as Nando.As of Sunday (September 21), 11:00 AM local time, the typhoon’s center recorded sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 230 km/h or more.Philippine Interior Minister Jonvic Remulla confirmed that local authorities have been instructed to evacuate families living in vulnerable zones to safer areas as quickly as possible.Meanwhile, Taiwan reported that preparations are underway to evacuate at least 300 residents from the eastern Hualien region, with the number potentially increasing or decreasing depending on the typhoon’s path.Taiwan’s meteorological agency warned that a land typhoon alert could be issued tonight, with the storm expected to make landfall along coastal areas by 6:00 AM on Monday (September 22).Philippine weather expert John Grendar Almario said during a press briefing that the northern region of Luzon could face heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides due to the typhoon’s impact. He added that effects would begin tonight, with peak intensity expected around 8:00 AM tomorrow.The storm’s influence may also bring heavy rain to the capital Manila, where thousands of people gathered today in an anti-corruption protest.
