Various corruption and irregularities alleged against office assistant by spreading party influence in Hatia
A number of irregularities have been alleged against Azhar, the office assistant of Khaserhat Majedia Balika Dakhil Madrasa in Hatia Upazila of Noakhali. It is learned that Azhar Uddin, instead of attending the madrasa, has been managing the madrasa headmaster and roaming around outside by spreading party influence. He has even abandoned important tasks of the madrasa and is spending time elsewhere, due to which the necessary administrative support for the students is being delayed.
Azhar Uddin, a fourth-class officer (office assistant) of the madrasa, is introducing himself as a teacher and the president of the Gana Odhikar Parishad in Hatia Upazila and is committing various irregularities in various places in Hatia, using the name of VP Nurul Haque Nur and the name of the Gana Odhikar Parishad for his personal work and is embezzling a large amount of money by using administrative and law enforcement people.
It is also alleged that he has encroached on government land and sold it. Hatia sold a 4-ding plot of land on the north side of the road at the western end of Khaser Hat Bazar on Tamraddi Road to a person named Maksud. When Maksud went to build a house on that site, Hatia Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Tahsildar of Charshwair Union Land Office Abdul Hannan stopped the work.
It is alleged that Azhar often wanders outside instead of going to the madrasa and tries to hide his absence by managing the headmaster Abu Jafar. This is disrupting the activities of the madrasa and creating various problems for the teachers and students. The guardians of the madrasa have strongly protested this and demanded immediate action. However, the madrasa authorities have not commented on this.
Some students of the madrasa, who did not want to be named, said that Azhar’s brother is the office assistant of the madrasa, whenever we go to him for any work, he treats us as if he is the principal of that madrasa. Again, he comes to the madrasa 4-5 days a month, and the rest of the time he stays at his book shop, sits in the market, and even when he comes to the madrasa, he spends very little time.
In this regard, the victim Maqsud said, Azhar Uddin sold the land from me for 4 lakh taka, I did not know that it was government land, now I have gone to build a house, Tahsildar Hannan is not allowing me to build a house saying it is government land. I want a solution to this.
When asked about this, Azhar Uddin said, they are spreading false propaganda against me, I regularly attend the madrasa, if I had done anything irregular, then those present including the headmaster will definitely take note of the matter. He asked any students who have complained to come to me.
When asked about the sale of government land, he said that he sold the land long ago, he bought it after seeing how government land is now. He claims to be a journalist for the weekly Hatiyar Katha newspaper and he also knows how to do journalism.
In this regard, the editor of the weekly Hatiya Katha newspaper, Md. Kefayet Ullah, said that Azhar Uddin is not a representative of Hatiya Katha. He cannot claim to be a journalist without being a representative, he will definitely be questioned.
In this regard, Tasildar Abdul Hannan said, I did not stop the work, Hatiya Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibn Zayed Al Hasan stopped it, I was also with him. The problem with the land is canal land, if a house is given here, then the water flow will stop.
When asked about this, Taijul Islam, a former member of the District Public Rights Council, said that there is no committee of the Public Rights Council in Hatiya Upazila.
Headmaster Maulana Abu Zafar said, Azhar Uddin is an office assistant, he has to do whatever work is required in the office, if he has to go to Ochkhali for work, then maybe he sits in his own institution. What will happen if he spreads party influence, he has to do all the work in the office.
If any student complained, why didn’t he come to me, he should have complained to me. I don’t need to know whether Azhar Uddin exerts party influence outside the office. However, he identifies himself as the president of the Hatia Upazila Gana Odhikar Parishad.
