The doctor did not submit the autopsy report of the body of Abu Sayed, a brilliant student of English Department of Begum Rokeya University, who died in the quota reform movement, even after 11 days. Rokeya University police outpost in-charge SI Bibhutibhushan Roy filed a case at Tajhat police station regarding his death. The case was registered under Sections (143/18/6/332/333/353/379/435/427/302/34) of the Penal Code just after the incident.
There is no information that Saeed died in the shooting in Ejahar. It has been mentioned that the death was caused by the brick pelting. No one is named as an accused, two to three thousand unknown agitators are accused. Discussion and criticism has started on this. Teachers and students expressed their anger.
The statement of the case mentions, ‘In connivance with each other, illegal mob armed with common/lethal weapons have committed crimes like causing grievous hurt, theft, vandalism, damage, arson and killing of innocent students by obstructing government work. The disorderly two-three thousand agitating students are miscreants, along with BNP and Jamaat-Shibir-supported leaders and activists. They beat the policemen and seriously injured them. A number of miscreants, who benefited from the restive students on the road blockade, started firing indiscriminately from various directions with a rain of bricks and their firearms. Police also fired 169 rounds of rubber bullets from a government issued shotgun named Cong/1186 Sohel from inside the APC vehicle to disperse them in order to bring the situation under control. The entire university area turned into a battlefield in the clash. A student was seen falling down on the road as the protesters pelted bullets and bricks from different directions. Then his classmates caught him and took him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital around 3:50 PM for treatment and the doctor on duty declared him dead. The dead student’s name is Abu Saeed (23), father Maqbul Hossain, village Jafarpara Babanpur, thana Pirganj, district Rangpur.
It is reported that SI Bibhutibhushan Roy called several times to inquire about the statement, but he did not receive.
However, the teachers and students expressed their anger about this statement and they said that the police are trying to blame the protesters to cover their guilt. Although Abu Saeed was shot dead at close range, the affidavit mentions that he was hit by a brick. The incident of public chest shooting that the whole world saw on social media, is it a lie? His whole body is shriveled up. Apart from this, the agitating students did not have firearms, the video will prove that. It did not mention the name of the policeman who fired and the person who ordered the firing. This is an organized statement.
Rokeya University’s head professor of Bengali department. Tuhin Wadud told The Dhaka News, “We saw in the video that Abu Saeed was targeted and shot by the police. I saw his body. There were numerous bullet and rubber bullet marks all over the body. Even though 11 days have passed, no action has been taken against the accused policemen and informers. I am surprised by this. If the policeman involved in the murder is not prosecuted, the image of the police force and the government will be questioned. However, we want the killers to be arrested and brought to justice as soon as possible.
Saju Basfor, convenor of Samajtantrik Chhatra Front’s Rangpur metropolitan branch, rescued Saeed after he fell on the ground after being shot and took him to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. He told The Dhaka News, “When Saeed, who was shot, was brought to the hospital along with me, the doctor on duty in the emergency department declared him dead.”
Narrating the incident of that day, he said, “When we tried to take the shot victim Saeed to the hospital, the police fired indiscriminately at us. Luckily we survived. In that situation, I brought Saeed to the hospital first in a rickshaw and then in another autorickshaw. Blood is pouring out of his nose and mouth on the way. I saw numerous bullet marks on the body. Now it is nothing but irony to talk about brickbat injuries in the case statement. We demand a proper investigation.
Arefin Titu, who participated in the protest with Saeed, told The Dhaka News, “I rushed to the hospital after hearing the news of Saeed’s death. He was wearing a black t-shirt. I picked it up and saw that the whole body was riddled with bullets and rubber bullets. By no means did the bricklayer die. We have pictures and videos of his chiseled body. He was targeted and shot by the police. There should be an exemplary trial of the policeman involved in the incident.
Omar Farooq, a teacher of Accounting and Information Systems Department of Begum Rokeya University, alleged that Saeed was killed in cold blood. He told The Dhaka News, “We want justice.” The guilty policemen should be investigated and brought under punishment.

After that, necessary action will be taken against the culprits.
Saeed’s body was conducted by the head of the forensic department of Rangpur Medical College. Rajiqul Islam. Even after 11 days, he called several times to ask the reason for not giving the report, but he did not receive.
Rangpur Medical College Principal Professor Dr. Shah Md. Sarwar Jahan told The Dhaka News, “The autopsy doctor is on leave. Will join work on Monday. Hopefully, he will submit the post-mortem report soon after joining the work.
According to local sources, on July 16 around 3 pm in front of the gate of Begum Rokeya University, there was a clash between police and Chhatra League with protesting students demanding quota reform. Abu Saeed, a talented student of the 12th batch of the English department of the university, was shot dead at this time.
