Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU), the financial intelligence agency of Bangladesh Bank, said that on Monday (August 19) banks and financial institutions of the country have been sent instructions in this regard to seize the accounts.
In this regard, a senior official of BFIU informed Dhaka News about this information.
He also said that all transactions through the personal and business accounts of those whose accounts have been seized will be closed. For the next 30 days, no transactions can be made as such. If necessary, this period of suspending the transaction will be extended.
In addition, the BFIU’s letter said that the relevant provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Rules will be applicable in this instruction to suspend the transaction. Dr. in this letter. Dipu Moni, her husband Taufiq Nawaz and elder brother Dr. JR Wadud Tipu’s name and National Identity Card details are given.
The BFIU directive further states that banks and financial institutions have been asked to send account related information or documents such as account opening form, KYC and transaction statement etc. to them within 5 working days from the date of issue of the letter if any account is suspended.
