Attorney General Awami League has applied to dismiss the writ of prohibition

The state’s top law officer Attorney General Advocate Md. Asaduzzaman Awami League has requested to directly dismiss the writ filed seeking ban. Taking part in the hearing, he told the court that there is no decision by the interim government to ban political parties. The power given by the constitution to manage political parties shall not be curtailed by the government. People have been victims of many injustices of the previous authoritarian government. There are laws and courts to judge them. However, Awami League leaders and activists hold the ideology of the party, so there is no opportunity to ban the party.

On Tuesday (August 27), Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub ul Islam participated in the hearing of the writ in the High Court bench and he applied to dismiss the writ.

The Attorney General said the writ petitioner had no jurisdiction to do so. Awami League was not made a respondent in the writ. The constitution of Sarda, which has filed a writ, does not allow such a writ.

He further said that many political issues have been brought to court in the past, for which we have to pay. The popular uprising that took place also affected the judiciary. As a lawyer, I bleed inside when something happens in court. That is why field politics should remain in the field. Therefore, the writ should be dismissed outright and costs should be imposed on the petitioner. If later the writ petitioner seeks time, then September 1 may be fixed in the order.
