At least eight vehicles were torched on the last day of the fourth phase of the 48-hour blockade called by the BNP. Among them, three buses and a covered van were set on fire in the capital Dhaka.
Apart from this miscreants set fire to four vehicles in Dinajpur, Faridpur and Rajshahi. Buses are four of the eight vehicles burnt. Miscreants set fire to the passengers in one of the buses. Besides setting fire to various types of vehicles, miscreants set fire to four sleepers of a railway bridge in Golaghat area of Dhaka-Mymensingh railway. BNP leaders-activists took part in protest marches in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, on Monday also in favor of the blockade. Apart from this, marches and gatherings were also held by various parties and alliances that are in simultaneous movement with BNP. Public transport and private cars are running in Dhaka even during yesterday’s blockade, although it is less than the usual time. Long-distance buses also run from Dhaka to various destinations in the country after noon. Train and launch movement was also normal. But passengers were less.
As always, police, RAB and BGB patrolled on various roads across the country yesterday. In addition, the ruling Awami League held rallies in different areas of the country. The leaders and workers of the party were seen taking positions at the intersections of various important roads of the capital.
