The price of everyday goods has fallen in the market, but disappointed buyers!
Due to the quota reform movement and the curfew, the transportation system of goods was greatly disrupted across the country for a few days. The market started to become unbridled. However, last week the prices of the commodity fell as the supply system was more or less normal. Traders said the market will be more normal in the future. But in the midst of this, due to the collapse of the government and the collapse of the law and order system, an upward trend has been observed in the prices of goods again. However, some products remain stable at previous prices.
After the fall of the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina, the news that the prices of daily commodities have decreased has spread on Facebook. The list of product prices circulating on social media says that potatoes are Tk 40, Onion Tk 70, Beef Tk 650, Beef Tk 800, Boiler Tk 140, Domestic Chicken Tk 400. But in reality the picture is different.
Visiting the various markets of the capital, papaya is selling at 50 taka, potal 60 taka, cucumber 100 taka, borabati 100 taka, tomato 160 taka, 100 taka 50 per kg. But bitter gourd and brinjal are being sold at Tk 100 per kg with an increase of Tk 20. The price of coriander leaves has doubled. Coriander leaves of 150 rupees are being sold for 300 rupees. 280 taka raw chili is being sold at 380-400 taka.
Rice, onion, ginger are still being sold at high prices. Potato 60 per kg, onion 120-130 and ginger are being sold at Tk 300. Chicken and egg prices remain unchanged. Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk 170-180 per kg and golden chicken at Tk 270-280. Buyers have to buy a dozen of chicken eggs of the farm at 150 taka with an increase of 5 taka, besides beef and mutton are being sold at 850 taka and 1100 taka per kg.
Despite the increase in supply, the price of fish has not decreased. Most of the fish are being sold at last week’s prices. However, the price of hilsa is slightly higher. Compared to last week, the price of hilsa has increased by Tk 200-300. One kilogram of hilsa is being sold for 1700 to 1800 taka in the retail market. Small hilsa (500 to 600 grams) is being sold for Tk 1200 to Tk 1400.
Pangas is being sold at Tk 180 to Tk 200 per kg, Tilapia at Tk 240-260, Horns at Tk 500-600, Rui (one and a half to two kg) at Tk 350 to Tk 360, and Pabda at Tk 500 to Tk 550.
The volatility created in the rice market did not end. Rice is being sold at an additional price of Tk 100-150 per bag (50 kg bag).
Coarse rice (Swarna) is being sold at Tk 52 per kg increased by Tk 2. That is, the price per bag has increased by 100 taka. Besides, medium quality rice (BR-28) is being sold at Tk 56 per kg; Last week its price was Rs.55. BR-29 is being sold at Tk 58 per kg increased by Tk 3.
