The fire that broke out in two adjacent buildings in the capital's Chawkbazar was brought under control after about an hour and a half. The fire service was able to put out the fire around 6 pm on Monday, said Anwarul Islam, an official of the media cell of the Fire Service Headquarters.He reported that a total of 7 units from the Lalbagh, Palash, and Siddique Bazar stations participated in the firefighting operation. Quick action prevented major damage. However, the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not yet known. The fire service investigation team has already started its work.The two buildings that caught fire in Chawkbazar included a three-story building. The ground floor housed a pulse (lentil) warehouse and mill, the second floor was living quarters for employees, and the third floor contained a luggage fitting factory. The other building was two stories, with a workshop on the ground floor and an office on the second floor. After receiving news of the fire at 4:42 PM, the first four units of the fire service arrived at the scene and began work, later joined by three more units.Earlier the same day, at 3:40 PM, a fire broke out in a 6-story residential building in Mohammadpur's Johuri Moholla. Two units worked to bring that fire under control at 4:25 PM.
