Commitment to Build a Drug-Free Society in Chandina: All-Party Meeting Held

An exceptional and landmark ‘all-party anti-drug assembly’ was held in Mehar village of Maijkhar Union under Chandina Upazila, Cumilla, to protect the youth and the locality from the clutches of narcotics. During the assembly held on Thursday (March 26) in Mehar village, identified drug dealers, sellers, and users of the area appeared in person to take a public oath to abandon drugs and formally announced their return to a healthy life. This initiative has created a positive and comforting atmosphere in the locality.The assembly, presided over by Mr. Harunur Rashid, President of Maijkhar Union BNP, was attended by people from all walks of life in the village. The primary objective of the meeting was to bring those involved with drugs back from the dark path and build a disciplined society. The drug dealers and users present at the assembly admitted their mistakes and expressed their consensus before everyone to never get involved in any form of drug trading or consumption in the future. Local residents have highly commended this courageous step.Prominent personalities and leaders of the area attended and delivered important speeches at the assembly. Among the speakers were Abul Kalam Azad, Russel Sarkar, Member Abul Bashar, Mujib Pradhan, Md. Shahjahan, and Mizanur Rahman, along with many other local dignitaries. In their speeches, the leaders warned that strict social and legal action would be taken against anyone who returns to the drug business even after taking this oath. A call was made for everyone to remain united, regardless of political affiliation, in this movement to build a drug-free society.In his concluding remarks, the chairperson Mr. Harunur Rashid stated that this initiative was taken to save the future generation from destruction. Through today's assembly, Mehar village has moved one step closer to becoming drug-free. He requested everyone present to remain vigilant from their respective positions and wished a bright future for those who promised to leave the dark path and return to a normal life. This noble initiative has sparked significant excitement and immense enthusiasm among the general public in the area.
