Former Secretary Shahid Khan in jail in Anti-Terrorism Act case
A Dhaka court has ordered former secretary Abu Alam Mohammad Shahid Khan to be sent to jail under the Anti-Terrorism Act on charges of conspiring to overthrow the interim government.On Monday (August 8), he was produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court and the investigating officer of the case, SI Tawfiq Hasan of Shahbagh Police Station, requested to be detained in jail until the investigation into the case is completed.After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saifuzzaman ordered him to be sent to jail.This morning, Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police arrested former secretary Shahid Khan from the capital's Eskaton area.According to the charges in the case, Abdul Latif Siddiqui was giving a speech at a round table meeting held under the banner of 'Manch 71' at Dhaka Reporters Unity on August 28, inciting others to destabilize the country through armed struggle and overthrow the government. For his conspiratorial statement, the people present surrounded them and started shouting slogans like 'Awami Fascist'.A case under the Anti-Terrorism Act was filed at Shahbagh Police Station on August 29 against Abdul Latif Siddiqui, 16 named people and 70/80 unknown people for conspiring and inciting to overthrow the current interim government with the aim of destabilizing the country by identifying them as mutual supporters.
