Clash between Jatiya Party and People's Rights Council, army deployed

A chase and counter-chase took place between Jatiya Party and Ganadhikar Parishad leaders and activists in front of the Jatiya Party (JAP) office in Kakrail in the capital. At the same time, bricks and stones were thrown.

The incident took place on Friday (August 29) at around 6:15 pm.

JAP leaders and activists alleged that Ganadhikar Parishad leaders and activists attacked them with a procession. And Ganadhikar Parishad leaders and activists alleged that while they were leading the procession, JAP people incited them by throwing bricks and stones.

Ramna Police Station Inspector (Operation) Atiqul Alam Khandaker confirmed the matter to the media.

Meanwhile, a large number of law enforcement officers, including the army and police, rushed to the spot immediately after the chase and counter-chase incident. However, it was not immediately known whether there were any casualties in the incident.

Atiqul Alam Khandaker said, at around 6:15 pm, a chase and brick-throwing incident took place between the two parties. We are at the scene. We will tell you the details later.

Abu Hanif, a senior member and media coordinator of the People's Rights Council, said, "We have held a protest rally today demanding a ban on the activities of Awami League associates. After the protest at the central office, we were going towards Nightengale intersection with a procession from Paltan Zero Point, when after reaching the Jatiya Party office, bricks and bricks started being thrown at us from behind. At that time, 3-4 hundred people were present there. We believe that along with Jatiya Party members, some terrorists from Awami League and Jubo League were also there."

He also said that 10-15 of our leaders and activists were injured in the incident. Many of them have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
