Amid the ongoing instability, 5,000 metric tons of diesel is being supplied to Bangladesh from India’s Numaligarh Refinery. The fuel is expected to reach the Parbatipur Depot in Dinajpur today, Tuesday (March 10), through the Bangladesh–India Friendship Pipeline.

According to sources from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC), the pumping process to send the diesel from India has already begun.

Earlier, on Sunday (March 8), a meeting was held at the Secretariat between Finance Minister Ameer Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Pranay Verma.

During the meeting, a proposal was made to supply an additional 50,000 metric tons of diesel over the next four months through the Bangladesh–India Friendship Pipeline. Just two days after that discussion, 5,000 metric tons of diesel is arriving from India today.

The pipeline, which was inaugurated in March 2023, currently has the capacity to transport 200,000 tons of diesel per year, and it is expected to be gradually expanded to 1 million tons annually.
