Chandina: The Mangled Microbus

A horrific road accident occurred in the Madhaiya area of the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chandina, Cumilla. On Wednesday (March 18) afternoon, a speeding passenger bus of 'Marsa Paribahan' rear-ended a microbus in the Chattogram-bound lane. Due to the severe impact of the bus, the microbus lost control, crashed into the road divider, and was completely mangled. Several passengers, including the driver of the microbus, were injured in the incident.

Immediately following the accident, a massive traffic jam stretched over nearly 3 kilometers on that lane of the highway, causing significant suffering to commuters. Upon receiving the news, personnel from the Eliatganj Highway Police and Fire Service quickly reached the spot and removed the wrecked vehicles, restoring normal traffic flow.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Eliatganj Highway Police Station, Md. Ruhul Amin, stated that the injured were promptly rescued and sent to various hospitals. Although no one was found at the accident site later, it was confirmed that the microbus driver is undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex. Currently, traffic movement on the highway is completely normal.
