30 Days of Ramadan as Saudi Confirms Friday Eid

Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday (March 20) after the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted in the country.

Following the official moon-sighting process on Wednesday (March 18), Saudi authorities confirmed that the moon marking the beginning of Shawwal 1447 AH was not visible. As a result, Ramadan will complete 30 days, and Thursday (March 19) will be observed as the final day of fasting across the Kingdom.

According to a report by Gulf News, the absence of the Shawwal moon sighting means residents of Saudi Arabia and several other Middle Eastern countries will observe one more day of fasting before celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday.

Traditionally, Bangladesh celebrates Eid a day after Saudi Arabia. Based on this pattern, Eid-ul-Fitr in Bangladesh is expected to fall on Saturday (March 21). However, the final date will be officially confirmed by the National Moon Sighting Committee after observing the local moon sighting.
