The Great Independence and National Day has been celebrated with due dignity and in a festive atmosphere at Chandina Upazila in Comilla. The day's programs commenced at sunrise on March 26 with a 31-gun salute at the Upazila Central Shaheed Minar. Following this, leaders of various government and non-government institutions, along with political and social organizations, paid their deep respects to the greatest sons of the nation by placing floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.
As part of the day's formal proceedings, the national flag was hoisted and the national anthem was performed at the Chandina Government Model High School ground. Students from various local schools and colleges presented captivating displays and a march-past, which deeply impressed the audience. At the conclusion of the ceremony, prizes were distributed among the students who participated in various competitions.
The event was attended by the Member of Parliament for the Comilla-7 (Chandina) constituency, Atiqul Alam Shaon, and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Ashraful Haque, along with various officials from the upazila administration, teachers, and students. Later, as part of the day's schedule, a reception for the families of freedom fighters was held at the Pourashava (Municipality) auditorium. During this session, MP Atiqul Alam Shaon was greeted with flowers by the families of the freedom fighters, and the upazila administration presented honorary crests to the heroic veterans. In their speeches, the guests highlighted the true history of the Great Liberation War and called upon the new generation to be inspired by patriotism and work for the welfare of the country.
