Recently resigned Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan is rejoining the People's Rights Council, said the party's General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan. He confirmed the matter to a media outlet around 10:30 pm on Wednesday.Rashed Khan said, "Asif Mahmud performed important duties in our student organization. During the fascist Hasina's regime, starting from the anti-quota movement, he was with us in all the street battles and struggles. He even had to suffer a lot of torture during that time."He also said, "We are in talks with Asif. He was involved in the politics of the People's Rights Council before this too. He will be given a respectable position in the party. We have discussed this with him. The matter will be finalized very soon. However, we want him back in the party at any cost."Earlier, on Wednesday evening, Chief Advisor Dr. Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan submitted his resignation to Yunus. In the afternoon, he said at a press conference held at the conference room of the Local Government Division of the Secretariat that he will participate in the upcoming national elections. He said, "I will vote, that's for sure. The party from which I vote will be announced later."Asif Mahmud has left the post of advisor to become a candidate in the national elections. Discussions are underway in political circles that he can vote from Dhaka-10 constituency (Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, New Market and Hazaribagh). He has already become a voter of this constituency.After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government on August 5 last year, an interim government was formed under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus on August 8. Three people got a place in the government as representatives of the students who led the July mass uprising. Among them, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan was first given the responsibility of labor advisor and later the responsibility of the local government ministry.
