BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is returning home after 17 years on Thursday (December 25). Security arrangements have been taken at the highest level from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital to his Gulshan residence on the occasion of his return home.As part of this, security arrangements will be centrally supervised from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters, and thousands of law enforcement officers will be deployed at the field level. In addition, the BNP Chairperson Security Force (CSF) and the police will work together to ensure Tarique Rahman's security.According to intelligence sources, a strict security plan is being taken for Tarique Rahman's home, office area and transportation routes. The administration is taking maximum measures to ensure that there is no deficiency in security. Especially, adequate police personnel have been deployed on the roads where there is a risk or in areas of the capital where there is a risk surrounding his return. Arrangements have also been made to deploy additional police personnel if necessary. Moreover, the security of Tarique Rahman's transportation routes will also be strictly controlled. The security arrangements will be supervised from the DMP headquarters.Intelligence sources also learned that several high-level meetings have already been held at the Home Ministry regarding Tarique Rahman's return to the country. One of these meetings was led by the Home Advisor himself. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) and heads of intelligence agencies were also present in it. The high-level meeting considered the security risks surrounding Tarique Rahman's return to the country. Accordingly, the Home Ministry later adopted a strict security plan. Security arrangements are being prepared in line with it. Field-level officers have also received instructions in this regard.Tarique's security under the supervision of the DMP headquartersIt is learned that the DMP is taking all necessary measures for Tarique Rahman's security. However, the BNP Chairperson Security Force (CSF) will be in charge of overall security. They are working with the police and BNP leaders and activists at various levels on security arrangements.According to law enforcement sources, police security is expected to begin from midnight on Tuesday (December 23) surrounding Tarique Rahman's return home. Law enforcement members, including detective police, plainclothes and uniformed police, will be on guard at various levels. On the day of Tarique Rahman's return home on December 25, about several thousand members of police and various organizations will be deployed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to Evercare Hospital and his residence on Gulshan Avenue, 300 feet away. According to intelligence sources, there will be police security in every police station area from the airport to Gulshan. There will be a police 'special squad' with them. In addition, police check posts will be set up at every intersection. Currently, there are at least nine check posts in Gulshan, Banani and Baridhara areas. More than 150 police members are on duty at these check posts 24 hours a day. At least three check posts may be added in the Gulshan area after The entire security arrangement will be centrally supervised from the DMP headquarters and necessary instructions will be given from there. According to those instructions, field level officers of DMP's Gulshan and Uttara divisions will work to ensure Tarique Rahman's security.In this regard, Deputy Police Commissioner (DC) of DMP's Uttara division Md. Shahriar Ali told Dhaka Post that Tarique Rahman's security arrangement will be directly supervised from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police headquarters. No specific department or division will be responsible for this security. The responsibility will be divided by the DMP, and accordingly, Tarique Rahman's security will be ensured. Adequate security arrangements will be taken and security arrangements have already been taken.Additional vigilance will be maintained in GulshanAccording to BNP sources, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will move into house number 196 on Gulshan Avenue in the capital. This house is adjacent to the wall of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's residence 'Firoza'. The house on Gulshan Avenue is almost ready for Tarique Rahman. If for some reason it is not completely ready, he will move into his mother Khaleda Zia's rented house Firoza. After returning home, he will conduct party activities from the BNP Chairperson's office on Road No. 86 in Gulshan.According to sources from the Gulshan Division of the DMP, since BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's residence Firoza and Tarique Rahman's residence are located next to each other in Gulshan, the two houses and his office are being brought under the same security plan.
