BNP's 'Legal and Health Support Cell for Oppressed Women and Children' has come forward to help a newborn abandoned at Khulna Medical College Hospital. The newborn's alleged parents fled after she was born on November 23. Following the incident, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman ordered the cell members to go to the hospital.The cell members spoke to the hospital authorities about the treatment and protection of the newborn. At that time, the cell's central coordinator and BNP's health secretary, Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, spoke virtually to the doctors and nurses and gave necessary directions. He also asked the hospital director, Dr. Md. Ainul Islam, and other concerned officials to inquire about the child's condition.On behalf of Tarique Rahman, financial assistance and child safety equipment were handed over to the hospital authorities for the treatment and protection of the newborn.At that time, cell members Dr. Akramuzzaman, Dr. Abu Zafar Mohammad Saleh Palash, Dr. Tajrul Islam, Dr. Humaira Muslima Babli, along with doctors, nurses and officials of the hospital, were present.
