Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, we do not want to be dependent. Whatever happens to us, we have to be self-reliant.
The Chief Advisor said these things at a meeting with the Advisory Council and high-ranking government officials on Wednesday (October 8).
Later in the afternoon, the Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said this at a press briefing organized at the Foreign Service Academy.
Quoting the Chief Advisor, the Press Secretary said, "We should be able to stand on our own feet. We should not have to do any kind of slavery. It is clear that we do not want to be dependent anymore. We have to be self-reliant."
He also said, "Now that we have become dependent, we have to try to get out of this situation as soon as possible. We have no other option. For this, we have to change our habits. To become self-reliant, we have to use our intelligence, work hard and fight." Although it is difficult, there is joy in this process.
The Press Secretary said, the new Bangladesh we talk about, new Bangladesh means self-reliance. Bangladesh, this nation, has enough power to stand on its own feet. Youth, creativity are our strength. We have this power and opportunity. We have to utilize it. We have to free the nation from slavery by building a self-reliant economy.
