A Shibir-backed panel candidate has been accused of sending obscene and harassing messages to a female student's inbox on the social media platform Facebook at Chittagong University (CU).The incident came to light through several posts on Facebook on Tuesday (October 14) evening.The accused student is named Salman Shakib.In the post, the female student said, "The student has been bothering me for a long time by sending me personal messages, phone calls and music videos despite my reluctance. At first, I did not reply to the messages in general. Later, since he is a senior, I replied once, but only after that he tried to increase the relationship. When I expressed discomfort, he said, it is not unusual for boys and girls to talk in the university."Salman Shakib denied the allegations and said, "This is completely false and misleading. I do not know the girl properly. She was the one who messaged me first. She introduced herself as Nausheen, a student of the Arabic department of the 24-25 session. I don't know if she is a university student or not.'He said he would clarify the matter through a Facebook post.The accused Salman Shakib is a student of the Institute of Education and Research (IER) of Chittagong University in the 2021-22 session. He is a Shibir-backed panel's executive member candidate in the upcoming Chaksu elections.
