Anti-discrimination leader Shakib wanted to bribe special assistant to chief advisor

Anti-discrimination leader Shakib wanted to bribe special assistant to chief advisor

Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Md. Khoda Bakhas Chowdhury was offered a bribe by Shakib Khan, former member secretary of the Bogra district committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

Police said that Shakib Khan, posing as a deputy secretary of the Home Ministry, offered a bribe to the special assistant to the chief advisor from a mobile number for the post of a police superintendent.

This information was mentioned in a document sent to the Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court from the capital's Shahbagh Police Station on Wednesday (October 22).

The joint forces arrested Shakib Khan from his house in Bogra's Naruli area and handed him over to Shahbagh Police Station. After the bail hearing in the court on Wednesday, Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Monirul Islam rejected his bail application.

Earlier on Monday, Shahbagh Police Station SI Shahidul Islam filed a case against Shakib Khan under sections 22 and 27 of the Cyber Security Ordinance. The document sent to the court was signed by Shahbagh Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Md. Asaduzzaman. It was mentioned that Shakib Khan, posing as the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, offered a bribe to the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor Md. Khoda Bakhas Chowdhury from a mobile number for the appointment of a police superintendent.

In addition, unknown individuals were extorting money by pretending to be the Special Assistant to the Advisor Md. Khoda Bakhas Chowdhury and his personal assistant, promising to appoint and recruit policemen and BCS officers. The accused is an active member of an organized fraud ring.

Shakib Khan was arrested from Bogra under sections 22 and 27 of the Cyber Security Ordinance after receiving this information during cyber crime monitoring. He will be taken on remand and questioned. Therefore, since the investigation is not over, it is necessary to keep him in jail. There is a possibility that he will abscond forever if he is granted bail. This will hamper the investigation of the case.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, a human chain and protest rally was held in Bogra under the banner of general students and the public to protest against Shakib Khan's arrest under the Cyber Security Act and demand the repeal of all black laws including the Cyber Security Ordinance. Leaders and activists of NCP and Democratic Students' Union were present.

Shakib Khan's father Farhad Hossain says that Shakib Khan has been framed by raising baseless allegations. Recently, Shakib Khan has made several posts on social media Facebook blaming the interim government and law enforcement agencies for the deterioration of the law and order situation. Aggrieved by this, the police are arresting and harassing him in false cases.
