'If Sheikh Hasina is not tried, injustice will be done to the July martyrs'

'If Sheikh Hasina is not tried, injustice will be done to the July martyrs'

Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman has said that if the accused including Sheikh Hasina involved in the genocide are not tried, injustice will be done to the martyrs and injured in July.

He said this while presenting the final day of arguments against Sheikh Hasina and three others in the crimes against humanity case on Thursday (October 23).

The Attorney General said I believed that Sheikh Hasina would face justice. Because she told others that if they have courage, they will face justice. But she did not say this from her heart. If she had said this, she would have come to the country today and faced justice.

Md. Asaduzzaman also said, if the punishment of these accused cannot be ensured, the lives of many people in Bangladesh will be endangered. If justice is not established, our people will remain cowards and cowards in the darkness of history. I expect the maximum punishment for them.

After his speech, the tribunal said, justice will be ensured. Both sides will get justice at any cost.

The prosecution is currently presenting its final arguments against Sheikh Hasina and three others. The International Crimes Tribunal-1 will then set a date for the verdict.

Earlier, 54 people, including the families of martyrs, injured, and doctors, testified in the case against Sheikh Hasina. The testimonies covered the July massacre, atrocities, and various issues of torture including disappearances and murders during the Awami League era.
