Cabinet will be closed in November: Information Advisor

Information Advisor Mahfuz Alam said that the meeting of the advisory council of the interim government will end in November. He also said that 23 implementable proposals have come from the reform commission, of which the ministry has already started implementing 13 proposals.

At the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Meet the Reporters program on Sunday (October 26), he said that the cabinet meeting will be closed in November. Therefore, we are trying to complete the work that can be done within the next month. The issues of lawmaking will also be resolved during this period.

The information advisor also said that the minimum salary of journalists will be determined within the next week, so that it is close to the ninth grade.

On the question of OTT and YouTube, he said that if content is created, it will be under the control of the Ministry of Information, and if it is published on digital platforms, it will be under the control of the ICT department. Efforts are underway to regulate online content.

He expressed hope that it would be possible to establish a 'one house, one media' system in the future, but this would take a long time and ownership issues would have to be resolved.

Present at the Meet the Reporters event were Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Senior Assistant Press Secretary Faiz Ahmed, DRU President Abu Saleh Akon and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel.
