Tarique Rahman calls on everyone to remain united, highlighting the sacrifice of mothers

Tears welled up in the eyes of BNP's nomination-seeking leaders after hearing the emotional speech of party acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

When he spoke about the sacrifice of his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, at a meeting with the nomination-seeking candidates of Dhaka division on Monday (October 27) night, none of the leaders present could hold back their tears.

At the time, he called on the party's leaders and activists to remain united.

In this meeting, held in the last phase of a series of meetings with the nomination-seeking candidates of 10 organizational divisions, Tarique Rahman delivered a heart-touching speech on the party's unity, sacrifice and appreciation.

Tarique Rahman said, my mother was facing death. If I wanted, I could have brought my mother, but my mother did not leave you. Even after facing death six times, my mother did not leave you. You have to stay together, keeping in mind the mother who made so many sacrifices for you.

He said, Sheikh Hasina drove my mother out of her home of forty years. My mother also lost her child. But that mother never compromised. Because, her goal was to form a unified democratic state. If she wanted, the mother could have compromised, but she didn't. Because, the mother knew that this compromise would alienate the people.

At one stage, Tarique Rahman cited the example of a court case, saying that when two mothers demanded one child, the judge said that the child would be divided into two. Then the real mother said, don't divide the child, give it to the other - I will watch from a distance. The real mother is the one who did not let the child be harmed. I want you to be like that real mother. Learn to sacrifice for the sake of unity. Everyone should accept a candidate with respect. Stay united, only then will BNP move forward. At one stage of the speech, Tarique Rahman himself became emotional.
