A total of 14 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed to maintain law and order and ensure security in the capital Dhaka and its surrounding districts.
BGB Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam gave this information on Wednesday (November 12).
He said that a total of 14 platoons of BGB have been deployed in the capital Dhaka and its surrounding districts to maintain overall law and order and ensure security. Out of these, 12 platoons of BGB have been deployed in the capital. And one platoon each of BGB has been deployed in Gazipur and Narayanganj. Meanwhile, miscreants are setting fire to buses and cars one after another in different parts of the country including Dhaka and setting off cocktail explosions at different places. These incidents have spread panic among the people. Eyewitnesses say that the way miscreants are wreaking havoc, it is becoming risky to travel on the roads. Cocktails can come and hit the body at any time. Besides, there is panic about where the situation will go and whether a terrible situation awaits. Some say that perhaps the Awami League is preparing to take revenge. Fearing what the situation will be like if that happens, the banned Awami League is trying to spread fear among the public around its November 13 program. HSajjat Ali has assured that there is no fear in the capital. He said that a group whose activities have been banned is trying to create unrest using social media. In the past few days, the DMP has arrested 552 people involved in cocktail explosions, arson of vehicles and flash mobs in the capital. However, most of the arrested people are from outside the capital. Attacks are being carried out wearing helmets and masks. Minors are also being used in these activities.
The DMP Commissioner urged the residents of the capital not to give shelter to strangers and said that before giving their vehicles to anyone else and if they suspect a stranger, inform the police. Unprotected buses have been set on fire more often and buses carrying fewer passengers are being set on fire. He sought the cooperation of the people in suppressing the saboteurs in this situation. The people of Dhaka will resist the saboteurs. In addition, the press secretary of the chief advisor, Shafiqul Alam, said that the programs in favor of banning the activities of the Awami League on the streets of Dhaka will be strictly suppressed. He wrote in his Facebook post, 'This is not October 28, 2006, this is July, forever.'
