Armed forces are vigilant guards to protect independence and sovereignty: Tarique Rahman

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman said that the armed forces are working like a vigilant guard to protect independence, sovereignty and geographical integrity. The contribution of the forces in maintaining world peace has made international relations stronger and more commendable. Besides, the role of the forces has become a symbol of the nation's trust during all natural disasters and dangers.

He wrote this in a greeting message on his verified Facebook page on the occasion of Armed Forces Day tomorrow (November 21).

Tarique Rahman wrote that the Bangladesh military was formed on November 21, 1971. For this reason, November 21 is celebrated as Armed Forces Day every year. The armed forces, built with courage, valor, and determined discipline, are a proud institution of the nation. The brave role of the forces on the battlefield of 1971 is a bright chapter in history. I extend my greetings and congratulations to all members of the three forces on this day. I also wish the army success, progress and progress and pray for the forgiveness of the souls of the martyrs of the armed forces who sacrificed their lives in the war of independence.

He further mentioned that the former President and Army Chief Ziaur Rahman, the proclaimer of independence, had taken and implemented a comprehensive program to develop the armed forces in line with the modern world. He was the one who transformed the army into a well-educated and professional force. Since then, the force has been transformed into three well-disciplined, fast and ever-active modern forces, which are on par with the armies of any modern country in the world. Similarly, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia also tried to modernize the army. Our efforts will continue in the future as well.

Finally, he wrote, "I remember with deep respect the bravest sepoy Mostafa Kamal, bravest Captain Mohiuddin Jahangir, bravest sepoy Hamidur Rahman, bravest Ruhul Amin, bravest Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman, bravest Lance Naik Nur Mohammad Sheikh and bravest Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf, who laid down their lives in the Liberation War."
