Khulna Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) has arrested Israfil Howlader, president of Mongla Upazila Jubo League and former chairman of Mithakali Union Parishad.

He was arrested from the city's New Market area on Friday (November 21) night. He was handed over to the court with a case filed against him on Saturday (November 22).

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the city Detective Branch (OC) Taimur Islam said that Israfil Howlader was arrested based on a secret tip-off. Information about multiple allegations against him is being verified. He also said that legal action will be taken after the necessary investigation.

Meanwhile, the news of Israfil Howlader's arrest has created a sensation in the area.

Local sources said that although there were various allegations against him for a long time, he used to move around normally by using political influence.
