Schedule to be announced in second week of December: CEC

The schedule for the 13th National Parliament election will be announced in the second week of December, said Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin.

He told reporters after inspecting the mock voting at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Government Girls High School in the capital on Saturday (November 29) morning.

The CEC said, “The campaigning for the referendum has not started yet. The government and the EC will conduct a massive campaign together with the EC. Preparations are being made accordingly.”

He said, “The law and order situation has improved a lot compared to before. The police, Ansar, BGB, RAB, and the army are working actively. There have been knife snatchings before too. But these are isolated incidents. The situation will be better than now.”

Regarding the mock voting, Nasir Uddin said, “The EC wanted to see the overall situation of what kind of environment needs to be maintained when elections are held in the context of the idea. People have not seen the voting process in the last fifteen years. This mock voting is being organized to show that and to inform them about the voting process. "We are also seeing how long it takes to cast two ballots at the same time."
