AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju has said that the interim government still lacks firmness, coordination, and clarity in its activities and decision-making. Unless this is addressed, he warned, doubts over the upcoming national elections will not go away.

He urged the Chief Adviser to take effective initiatives to reduce political divisions and build consensus in the interest of ensuring a fair and peaceful election.

This afternoon, seven political parties joined a meeting at Jamuna, the residence of Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, following his invitation. AB Party Secretary General Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad attended the meeting as the party’s representative. Interim government advisers Wahiduddin Mahmud, C R Abrar, Adilur Rahman Khan, and Syeda Rizwana Hasan were also present.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Monju said the recent attack on Nurul Haque Nur and the bloody clashes at Chittagong University over a trivial incident showed a clear lack of coordination between the government and law enforcement agencies. “This is very unfortunate,” he remarked.

Monju suggested that the interim government consider bringing back experienced officials who had previously served with courage and integrity during elections, even on a contractual basis if necessary. He also called for a merit- and competence-based neutral recruitment policy instead of random postings through lotteries.

To curb election-related violence, the AB Party chief proposed forming election coordination committees at the national, district, and upazila levels with the participation of political party leaders. He further urged the Chief Adviser to hold both physical and virtual meetings with members of all law enforcement agencies to build morale and improve coordination ahead of the polls.
