Sharif Osman Hadi, who is undergoing treatment at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), is still in critical condition. According to the latest assessment by the country's neurosurgeons, the ischemic changes and edema or swelling of the brain in Hadi's brain have not yet subsided.On Tuesday (December 16), Dr. Abdul Ahad, a neurosurgeon at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and involved in Hadi's treatment, informed the media about Hadi's medical condition in Singapore, citing the hospital's doctors.Dr. Abdul Ahad said that Osman Hadi is still at the crossroads of life and death. According to the latest assessment by the country's neurosurgeons, the ischemic changes and edema in Hadi's brain have not subsided. As a result, a specific 'time window' is considered the most important in treatment.He said that after he was admitted to the Singapore General Hospital's emergency complex, the neurosurgery and critical care teams jointly started his treatment. A CT scan of Hadi's brain showed that the ischemic changes on the left side of his brain were unchanged. In addition, swelling or edema in the brain still exists. The injury to the brain stem has created pressure in the ventricular system of the brain, which has become a major challenge for doctors.Dr. Abdul Ahad, citing Hadi's doctors at Singapore General Hospital, said that Hadi's kidneys, heart and lungs are currently being kept alive with the help of artificial ventilation. The doctors said that there has been no change in his GCS score yet. That is, no visible improvement or deterioration in neurological response can be observed. The most important thing at this stage is time. In the case of brain injury, there is a specific time period or 'time window', in which if the body responds positively, then the possibility of the next condition is created. The doctors are now looking to see if Hadi's body indicates any changes within that time period.Dr. Abdul Ahad said that the latest CT scan of Hadi's lungs showed the presence of blood as before. Ahad further said that this is why a chest drain was placed in his chest while he was in Bangladesh. Respiratory management is ongoing in Singapore keeping that complication in mind.Hadi's physical condition is improving - Dismissing the claim spread on social media as a rumor, Dr. Ahad said that any such information that Hadi has opened his eyes or his condition has improved is not true. His condition is still static, that is, he is in the same place as before. Doctors are not able to make any definite predictions regarding the possibility of regaining consciousness right now.It is worth noting that on Friday (December 12), around 2:30 pm, motorcycle-riding miscreants shot Osman Hadi, who was in a battery-powered rickshaw, on Box Culvert Road in Purana Paltan. He was first admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital; later transferred to Evercare Hospital from there. Yesterday, he was taken to Singapore for further treatment from Evercare.
