Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus has called on everyone to vote ‘yes’ in the referendum on the National Charter in July. He said, ‘This charter has been prepared after nine long months of discussions with various political parties. I believe that if the people of the country support this charter, then our country will be able to run safely for many years to come. So, if you support this charter, then definitely vote yes in the referendum.’
He said this at the inauguration of the voting campaign at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building on Monday (December 22).
The super caravan started its journey with the official inauguration. Ten voting vehicles – ‘Super Caravan’ – for the purpose of campaigning across the country were inaugurated by Information and Broadcasting Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Cultural Advisor Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui, Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Secretariat Akhtar Ahmed and Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor Shafiqul Alam by cutting the ribbon.
In a video message at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus said, Bangladesh is going through an important time. We have the national parliamentary elections and the referendum on the implementation of the National Charter in July ahead.
He said, keeping this goal in mind, 10 voting vehicles – Super Caravans have started their journey. These vehicles will travel to 64 districts and 300 upazilas of the country. They will go door to door to deliver information about the elections and referendum, create awareness about voting rights and spread the message of democracy.
The Chief Advisor said, ‘The right to vote is not at the mercy of anyone—it is our constitutional right. It is through the exercise of this right that we decide which way our future will go. Ensuring a free, fair and participatory election is not only the responsibility of the government; it is the responsibility of every citizen of the state.’
He said, ‘This super caravan is not just a car—it is a fleet carrying the message of democracy. It will tell you how important your vote is. It will remind you that participation, not inaction, strengthens democracy.’
He said, ‘I especially request the young community, women voters and first-time voters—come forward. Ask questions, learn, understand and vote. Your decisions will shape the Bangladesh of the future—the new Bangladesh.’
The Chief Advisor said, ‘We want an election where there will be no fear, no obstacles—there will only be free and fearless expression of the people. The government is determined to ensure that environment.’
He said, ‘You are the owners of the country. You will decide who will run this country for you for the next five years. Vote for the candidate of your choice. Choose an honest and capable candidate and vote. Vote thoughtfully.’
He said, ‘You will cast another vote in this election. You will vote for the July Charter. This Charter has been prepared after meeting with all political parties day after day for 9 long months. I firmly believe that if the people of the country like this Charter, the country will run safely for many years to come. If you support this Charter, then definitely vote yes in the referendum.’
He said, ‘Let us all make this democratic journey a success together. Let us vote—for ourselves, for the country, for future generations, for the new world.’
