BNP lawmakers take oath after 13th parliamentary election
Bangladesh Nationalist Party MPs take oath at Jatiya Sangsad, forming government after decisive election victory today officially

All newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) were sworn in today following their victory in the 13th national parliamentary election.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, where Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath at 10:43 am. The event was conducted by Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Secretary Kaniz Moula, after which the lawmakers formally signed the oath register.

According to the official election results, BNP secured 209 seats in the parliamentary polls held on February 12, establishing a commanding presence in the legislature.

Among BNP’s allied parties, Gano Odhikar Parishad, Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP), and Gano Sanghati Andalon each won one seat.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami captured 68 seats to become the principal opposition party. Its alliance partners, National Citizen Party (NCP), Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, and Khelafat Majlish, won six, two, and one seats respectively.

In addition, Islami Andolon Bangladesh gained one seat, while independent candidates were elected from seven constituencies.

Earlier, the Election Commission issued the official gazette notification for 297 of the 299 parliamentary seats. The results for two constituencies  Chattogram-2 and Chattogram-4  remain pending. Voting in Sherpur-3 was postponed following the death of a Jamaat-e-Islami candidate.
