The grand finale of Orator's Edge 2.0, a public speaking competition organized by the Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Marketing Club, concluded on Wednesday (2 September). Md Shagor Uddin, a student of the Human Resource Management (HRM) department, emerged as the champion in the final held at the university's conference room.
Ashka Alam from the Philosophy department became the first runner-up, while Monir Bepari, another student from the HRM department, secured the second runner-up position.
From the preliminary submissions, 21 contestants advanced to the semifinal round, where they were challenged to deliver extempore speeches on topics selected instantly. Showcasing talent, spontaneity, and eloquence, the top 10 speakers secured their tickets to the grand finale. During Wednesday's final showdown, these 10 contestants delivered prepared speeches.
The judging panel for the final round comprised Mohammad Arifin Rahman, Deputy Manager (HR & Admin) at Butterfly Manufacturing Company Ltd; Jhahidul Islam, Circle Product and Project Lead (Mymensingh Circle) at Grameenphone Limited; and Md Habibur Rahman, Accounting Associate (Inventory Controller) at CCI Bangladesh. The judges evaluated the contestants based on their ideas, confidence, delivery, and stage presence.
JKKNIU Marketing Club president Md. Tanvir Ahammed stated. "Whether they are experienced speakers or taking the stage for the first time, it was a great platform for everyone to prove themselves. The fierce competition among the top 10 finalists proves how promising the voices of our youth are."
The vibrant event concluded with a prize-giving ceremony for the winners and participants.
