The HSC and equivalent exam results in Cumilla's Chandina upazila have revealed a disappointing scenario across seven colleges, where none of the institutions, including one government college, achieved satisfactory results, resulting in a meager average pass rate of only 31.48 percent, which is reportedly the lowest in recent years. According to the available results, a total of 1,188 candidates participated from the seven colleges, out of which 374 passed with only two GPA-5s. On the other hand, 251 candidates from nine madrasas in the upazila participated in the Alim exam, with 149 passing along with five GPA-5s, and the average pass rate for the madrasas stood at 59.36 percent. In addition, 77 candidates from two technical educational institutions participated, of whom 64 passed with 32 GPA-5s, giving the technical institutions an average pass rate of 83.11 percent, while the combined pass rate of colleges, madrasas, and technical institutions in the upazila stood at 38.72 percent. College-wise results show that at Kerankhal School and College, only 3 passes were recorded out of 24 candidates, representing a pass rate of 12.50 percent. From the sole government institution, Dollai Nawabpur Government College, 236 candidates participated and 58 passed, making the college's pass rate 24.58 percent. From upazila headquarters Chandina Mohila College, 302 candidates participated and 103 passed with one GPA-5, achieving a pass rate of 34.11 percent. Meanwhile, Chandina Redowan Ahmed College saw the highest participation with 378 candidates, out of which 129 passed with one GPA-5, resulting in a pass rate of 31.75 percent. Furthermore, 17 out of 54 candidates passed from Mohichail Shahid Ziaur Rahman College (31.48 percent), 61 out of 130 passed from Madhaiya Muktijoddha Smriti College (46.92 percent), and 12 out of 64 passed from Chandina Dr. Firoza Pilot Girls High School and College (18.75 percent). Conversely, Abeda-Nur Higher Secondary Business Management Technical College, an educational institution in a remote area of the upazila, surged ahead in the results, with 45 candidates passing out of 49 participants, including 32 GPA-5s, and a pass rate of 91.83 percent, placing it in the top position at the upazila level. Additionally, 19 candidates out of 28 passed from the technical branch of Chandina Redowan Ahmed College, recording a pass rate of 67.85 percent. Among the madrasas, Abeda-Nur Fazil Madrasa achieved the best results, with 34 candidates passing out of 35 participants, including two GPA-5s, and a pass rate of 97.14 percent. Regarding this matter, Chandina Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Asaduzzaman stated that the results of the seven colleges were extremely poor and the reasons behind such a catastrophic failure in these institutions would be investigated.
