BRUR Sports Grounds to Get New Galleries

Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR), has decided to build separate galleries at its football field and cricket ground. Construction is expected to begin next week.Mamdudur Rahman, director of the university's Physical Education Department, confirmed the matter on Thursday (October 29). He said the tender process for the galleries had been completed and the work order had been issued. Construction will begin next week. He also said, “I would like to thank the honourable Vice Chancellor for his love for sports. Our university's Physical Education Department is currently considered a weak department. We all need to work together to develop this department.” The galleries are expected to provide seating for spectators attending football and cricket matches. The facilities will also help improve the university’s sports infrastructure and create a better environment for sporting events.Mitu, president of the BRUR Sports Association, said, “Having permanent pavilions at the university's sports grounds has been a long-standing dream of sports-loving students. That dream is now beginning to come true. I would like to thank the Vice Chancellor for giving importance to the students' demands.”Ismail Hossain, proctor of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, and former director of the Department of Physical Education, said, “The project was undertaken by the university administration during my term in response to students demands. Departments spend a considerable amount of money setting up temporary tents during their sports weeks. I hope the construction of the galleries will help resolve this problem.”He added that an initiative had been taken to fill the northern side of the cricket ground with soil, which would further expand the playing field.
