Storm warning for 17 districts including Dhaka by noon, winds up to 60 km/h
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has warned that gusty or squally winds may sweep across 17 districts, including Dhaka, by noon. There is also a possibility of rain or thunderstorms during this period.According to a warning issued for the country’s inland river ports on Friday (May 1), the weather condition may persist until 1:00 PM.The advisory states that districts including Pabna, Bogura, Tangail, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Jashore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barishal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Cumilla, Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet may experience temporary gusty or squally winds from the west or northwest at speeds of 45–60 km/h. Rain or thundershowers may accompany the winds.River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist Local Warning Signal No. 1.In a separate forecast, the Met Office said that all divisions of the country may see temporary gusty winds, lightning and rain or thundershowers through the evening. Some places, including Dhaka, could experience moderate to heavy or even very heavy rainfall.
Meteorologists indicate that this unsettled weather pattern may continue across different parts of the country over the next few days.
