‘Where can I get internet? The internet is burnt. In life... I will not bring it again, if another government comes, it will bring it... I gave the internet, let them keep burning it, it has to continue...’ In response to Sheikh Hasina’s words, JSD President Hasanul Inur said- ‘Another government, InshaAllah another government will not come to Bangladesh.’ In response, Hasina said- ‘Come, no I can’t do it anymore... I am leaving now.’
Such a conversation emerged in a phone conversation between ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and JSD President Hasanul Haque Inur.
The testimony against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, including three others, in the case of crimes against humanity committed in July-August was on Wednesday (September 24). Tanvir Hasan Joha, the special investigation officer of the case, testified at the International Crimes Tribunal-1 today. After the statement, four phone conversations were played. One of them was between Sheikh Hasina and Hasanul Haque Inur.
The conversation is reproduced in full for the reader—
Hasanul Haque Inu: Hello, GG Assalamu Alaikum.
Sheikh Hasina: Yes, Walaikumus-Salaam! What happened?
Hasanul Haque Inu: Inu was saying... No, one thing. I think your step has been correct. What are the reports we are getting in Bangladesh so far? Just in Dhaka, towards your Rampura and...
Sheikh Hasina: No, Rampura is clear, there is a little trouble in Shanir Akhra now.
Hasanul Haque Inu: There are some mullahs in Shanir Akhra.
Sheikh Hasina: Yes, I know. Just mullahs, there are many madrasas there.
Sheikh Hasina: Measures are being taken. They have to mike there. They are not allowing the army to enter Narayanganj, we are... taking it down.
Hasanul Haque Inu: Oh well...
Sheikh Hasina: No, I am saying there is no need for casualties. They have barricades, okay, they will come down from the sky, then they will catch them from both sides... You can give the message that the army is being sent and the helicopters will be used to bomb them directly. They will hit them from above with RAB helicopters.
Hasanul Haque Inu: Well, the sound bombs will go above, okay! I am requesting you to bring one point to my attention. Let's say the 'curfew' lasted for two to five days. But after the curfew, so that no more processions can take place, we need to do some homework, like I did to identify those who are leading the processions in Uttara, Badda, Gulshan, Jatrabari. Chhatra Dal, BNP boys and girls, boys, Shibir... I mean, let's say arresting Rizvi or arresting Ruhul is not important, what is important is the procession that was led on the ground there. The SP of Kushtia district is already making a list like that. There was no clash there. A bullet hit a person in the leg, he is managing. He is already making a list of the boys by looking at the pictures on the computer. I said, pick up the boys tonight.
Sheikh Hasina: Yes, sure.
Hasanul Haque Inu: So that they cannot lead the procession. So I am saying for Dhaka city, your detectives will definitely be able to make a list of who is in Uttara.
Sheikh Hasina: Not just the detectives, local leaders should do it too.
Hasanul Haque Inu: Local leaders there are MPs Khosru and Hasan Habib. Hasan Habib got angry and left it to Khasru to deal with the MP...
Sheikh Hasina: Khasru can't, Khasru is not local, Hasan is local, they have people.
Hasanul Haque Inu: Locals are not. Right, Hasan Habib did not come down. And here the lawyer could not handle it either. Both of them stepped on the line. What I mean is, with the help of local leaders, you can make a list and take all of them into custody within tonight, then somewhere... And there was a checkpoint in Mohammadpur. You went there at 12 midnight yesterday and did very well. But today, Ganabhaban was surrounded. But from there in Mohammadpur, they were getting ready for tomorrow, I mean this, so....
Sheikh Hasina: Yes, this has been going on for a few days.
Hasanul Haque Inu: The decision has been very correct, Honorable Prime Minister.
Sheikh Hasina: Thank you, thank you... We have become comrades in the battlefield.
Hasanul Haque Inu: Comrades in the battlefield. So please... ask them to do this pickup.
Sheikh Hasina: This has been said, I am saying, I am saying.
Hasanul Haque Inu: He asked me to do some homework, to arrest them today. I mean, if we arrest everyone, there will be no more people to hold processions.
Sheikh Hasina: Listen, wait, wait. Arrest them....
Hasanul Haque Inu: Another request. I think you can turn on the internet, it will be useful for us.
Sheikh Hasina: Brother, should I turn it on, everything has been burned. The data center has also been burned. Now we have to buy that new tartur and fix it.
Hasanul Haque Inu: What I am trying to say... I will go to 1971 at 8 pm and speak alone. I will say that the quota agitators have no conflict with the government. The conflict with the government is with the saboteurs, BNP-Jamaat.
Sheikh Hasina: No, that has been said. I am saying that myself....
Hasanul Haque Inu: This thing should be brought into propaganda. If there is internet, we have flooded the entire news with the media....
Sheikh Hasina: Where can I get internet? The internet is burning. In life... I will not bring it again, if another government comes, they will bring it. I have given internet, let them keep burning it, that has to continue...
Hasanul Haque Inu: Another government, Insha Allah another government will not come to Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina: Let it come, no I can't do it anymore... I'm going now.
Hasanul Haque Inu: No no... there is no need to go.
Sheikh Hasina: Jamaat should be punished and go.
Sheikh Hasina: You should make lists wherever you have people, we are also making them.
Hasanul Haque Inu: You are... breaking the backbone of Jamaat Shibir again in Dhaka city.
