Regarding the tension at Dhanmondi 32, Home Affairs Advisor Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that some people are deliberately trying to provoke the situation. They have their own interests. He said, "We need to convince our children that there is no need for such acts. Those who provoke do so for various purposes." He said this in response to questions from reporters after the meeting of the Core Committee on Law and Order at the Secretariat on Monday.
He also said that the overall situation is not alarming. Although some minor incidents have occurred, nothing major has happened. Those involved in the cocktail explosion are being caught. Regarding the DMP Commissioner's firing instructions, he said that all citizens have the right to self-defense.
Regarding sending a letter again to return Sheikh Hasina, he said that if necessary, that initiative will be taken.
Earlier in the afternoon, some aggrieved students started a procession from in front of Dhaka College towards Dhanmondi 32 with bulldozers. They went there and started shouting slogans demanding the hanging of Sheikh Hasina. At one point, when the police tried to stop the procession, a chase and counter-chase started between the two sides. The army arrived at the scene and seized two bulldozers.
